If you are a long time reader of my blog, you will know that each month I write about my creative achievements. I always feel a great sense of satisfaction when I know I have achieved something I set out to do. I love embarking on creative projects and would love to find a way to get my readers doing the same thing. These are great ideas you can try to sprinkle into your New Year’s resolutions or just hobbies you pick up before Christmas.
Pen your masterpiece
If you are like me and love writing and literature, turn that passion into a hobby. I love writing and find it so therapeutic. It is one of my favourite ways to pass the time. No matter how small your idea, just put your pen to paper and see what comes out. If you don’t have any great ideas at the moment, there are lots of creative writing websites to help you get started. They provide initial ideas which you can turn into a story and then from there you might even find your own ideas.
Start a blog
Blogging is a great way of reaching the world and sharing your thoughts and opinions. If you are looking for an outlet for all your thoughts, you should definitely think about setting up your own blog. It can be about absolutely anything. You could even turn your blog into a little money making project. In fact, many bloggers do that as their full-time job.
Join a dance class
If you love to dance, but only seem to do it around your bedroom with the stereo blaring, it is time to find a more creative outlet. Look out for local dance classes and get involved. You might even find some dance classes in your gym to help you burn off any extra calories. If you are feeling super creative, you could even think about making your own dancing outfit. Fabrics for dance costumes are easy to get hold of, so think about making a customized outfit.
Make a movie
If you love cinema. it is time to move yourself from in front of the screen to behind the camera. So many people I know have a deep passion for film but have never thought about making their own films. You don’t have to invest in a fancy camcorder; you can get started on your smartphone! Start small by filming your friends and family and turning them into cute movies to watch together. As you get more confident you might be able to aim bigger creating longer and longer cuts.
Create a photo album
I remember when I was younger my parents would spend ages pasting all of their photos into amazing family albums. With technology being what it is we rarely print photographs anymore. Make a change to this. Find all of your favourite photos from the last year and get them printed. Arrange them into a photo album and keep it on your coffee table for guests to browse through when they visit.
Let me know in the comments section how YOU plan on getting creative, or if you’re already in the mix, let me know how it’s going. Good luck! And as always…
