Sodom #5

ASYLUM

Tagline forthcoming.

Year 3196. After a long-fought war of politics and propaganda, the world has finally succumbed to the Moral Order, a perfect meritocratic society comprised of 12 castes, ordered from greatest to least only by their glut of good deeds.

The best of men can become Piets: perfect paragons of goodness, morality, and servicemen to mankind. The worst of men– murderers, thieves, rapists– are thrown down to the lowest societal rung: the Shaitan, a caste from which there is no escape.

Idealist do-gooder Anais Black is an exemplar of her ilk: a brilliant beauty of the tertiary Sybil caste, who serve as the Intelligentsia of the Moral Order. She lives a near-perfect life: several degrees and languages under her belt, an entire library of Good Deeds at her back, and a diamond ring on her finger, the symbol of love from a Piet Senator who is eager to make an honest woman of her. Everything is just as she’s designed it.

That is, until her family is falsely accused of murder and treason.

Soon Anais finds herself alone, and she is caste down and exiled into Sodom, the worst of the Shaitan cities, where the new blood is the one that runs. And she’s got plenty of it to spare. In a place where no good deed goes unpunished, Anais must find a way to stay alive and climb her way back up the Moral Ladder… all while uncovering the truth of her family’s betrayal.

A truth about a dark threat that could change everything.
